Eastern Area Agency on Aging

One of Maine’s Agencies on Aging — a regional hub of resources, programs and services aimed at improving the health and well-being of older adults and their families. Programs include Meals on Wheels, caregiver support, social programs and transportation services to medical appointments.

Retiree and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Hancock, Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Washington Counties

Volunteer opportunities include public health programs, independent living assistance, veteran appreciation, environmental work, and caregiver respite.

This short video entitled “The good life on Swan’s Island” and subtitled “The perfect place to enjoy a long life” was made by a Swan’s Island resident with the support of The University of Maine’s Center on Aging.

The subject of the film is 95-year old Earl Lowell who has been enjoying retirement on the island for 30 years.
